While researching the different Apache Indian Tribes in the archives of the Arizona Historical Society Museum, I was intrigued by an old photograph of a young Apache woman with a pine-pitched water carrier on her back.
I began to imagine a beautiful Sonoran Desert Spring with blooming palo verde trees. A young Apache mother, returning from the creek with her water carrier full, suddenly realizes her little daughter is not by her side. As with lively Spring itself, her daughter has playfully hidden, giggling in the anticipation of discovery.
The fearful cottontail rabbit, playing nature’s game of survival, is hiding from them both!
