Facts About Raffia
Raffia is a natural grass-like material that can be woven like straw.  The creamy brown colored leaves come from a specific palm tree that originally grew only on the island of Madagascar.  The tree has the largest leaves of all the palms.  The fibrous leaves are cut from the tree and then carefully stripped into long pieces suitable for making hats. Raffia hats are resilient and remain pliable naturally.
